Hearty Pork Stew with Potatoes, Mushrooms & Peas

If you're looking for a comforting, homemade dish that's both hearty and full of flavor, this pork stew with potatoes, mushrooms, and peas is the perfect choice. It’s a simple, one-pot meal that brings together tender pork, earthy mushrooms, and soft potatoes in a rich tomato-based sauce. This dish is perfect for cozy dinners and pairs beautifully with crusty bread or a fresh salad.

Ingredients

  • 500 g pork fillet, cut into bite-sized pieces

  • 1 large onion, finely chopped

  • 1 carrot, finely chopped

  • 500 g mushrooms, sliced

  • 1 g potatoes, peeled and chopped

  • 200 g peas

  • 4 tbsp tomato puree

  • 1 tsp red pepper

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 2 pinches of savory

  • 3 tbsp oil

  • 1 tbsp flour

  • Warm water, as needed

How to Prepare

1️⃣ Sauté the base: Heat the oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onion, carrot, and pork pieces. Sauté until the meat turns white.

2️⃣ Add potatoes & seasonings: Stir in the chopped potatoes, then season with salt and red pepper.

3️⃣ Add tomato puree & water: Stir in the tomato puree, then pour enough warm water to cover all the ingredients.

4️⃣ Add peas & mushrooms: Mix in the peas and sliced mushrooms. Let the stew cook over medium heat until the meat is tender and the potatoes are soft.

5️⃣ Thicken the sauce: If the sauce is too thin, mix 1 tbsp flour with a little water to make a slurry, then stir it into the stew. This will help thicken the broth slightly.

6️⃣ Finish & serve: Sprinkle with savory, give it a final stir, and let the flavors meld for a few more minutes. Serve hot and enjoy!
